Grotheer outperformed Britain's Matt Weston and China's Zheng Yin, who finished second and third, respectively.
Hannah Neise earned her second consecutive runner-up finish, trailing China's Dan Zhao, who took first place in the women's competition.
Other German skeleton athletes performed well, with Jacqueline Pfeiffer placing fifth, Susanne Kreher ninth, and Corinna Leipold eleventh in the women's event.
The competition took place on the 2022 Olympic track in Peking, highlighting strong performances from both international and German athletes early in the season.
