Christopher Ashley Named Artistic Director of Roundabout Theatre Company

Ashley, currently at La Jolla Playhouse, will begin his tenure in July 2026, succeeding interim director Scott Ellis.

Christopher Ashley will take over as Artistic Director of Roundabout Theatre Company for the 2027-2028 season.
Ashley has led La Jolla Playhouse since 2007, directing notable productions like 'Come From Away' and 'The Outsiders'.
Scott Ellis, who became interim director after Todd Haimes' death in 2023, will continue through the 2025-2026 season.
Roundabout Theatre Company conducted a yearlong international search to find Ashley as the new leader.
Ashley aims to make Roundabout a 'town square' for urgent questions and community building in American theater.
