- Most major retailers and grocers are open on Christmas Eve with shortened hours, including Costco 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Walmart until 6 p.m., Target until 8 p.m., Trader Joe’s until 5 p.m., Sam’s Club and BJ’s until 6 p.m., and many Kroger banners closing between 6–8 p.m.
- Major chains have confirmed they will be closed on Christmas Day, including Walmart, Target, Costco, Aldi, Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Whole Foods, Sam’s Club, BJ’s, Publix, Meijer and many department and home-improvement stores.
- Some essential services will operate on Dec. 25 with limited or location-based hours, such as select CVS and Walgreens stores and convenience chains like 7‑Eleven, Circle K and Sheetz, with certain restaurants and coffee shops open at specific sites.
- U.S. post offices are open on Christmas Eve with local variations and closed on Christmas Day with no regular mail delivery; UPS and FedEx offer modified services on Dec. 24 and close retail locations on Dec. 25 except for critical deliveries.
- Financial markets close early at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day, and many bank branches operate limited hours on Dec. 24 and close on Dec. 25.
