Christmas Eve Attempt to Rip ATM From Fort Worth 7‑Eleven Fails as Suspects Flee

Police are seeking tips to assess possible links to similar North Texas thefts.

Overview

  • Just before 3:45 a.m. on Dec. 24, two men tied a metal cable to a 7‑Eleven ATM on South Cherry Lane and dragged it through the storefront.
  • The ATM broke free during the getaway and was recovered on the I‑30 service road between South Cherry Lane and Las Vegas Trail.
  • Investigators say the getaway SUV was stolen from a Dallas apartment complex about an hour earlier and was later found abandoned on Shenandoah Road, less than a mile away.
  • White Settlement police used license‑plate readers and city cameras to track the vehicle, and they are coordinating with nearby agencies on possible links to recent convenience‑store thefts.
  • Both suspects wore black hoodies, face coverings and orange gloves—one in white sneakers and the other in black tennis shoes—and police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Geovanny Ramirez or Tarrant County Crime Stoppers.
