Christmas Eve ATM Theft Attempt Rips Through Fort Worth 7-Eleven Storefront

Police are seeking tips to identify two suspects in a possible series of North Texas convenience-store thefts.

Overview

  • Police say two men used a metal cable to drag an ATM toward a stolen SUV around 3:45 a.m. at the 7-Eleven on South Cherry Lane.
  • The machine broke free as the suspects fled and was recovered on the I-30 service road between South Cherry Lane and Las Vegas Trail.
  • The getaway SUV had been stolen from a Dallas apartment complex about an hour earlier, and officers later used license-plate readers and city cameras to find it abandoned on Shenandoah Road less than a mile from the store.
  • Detectives are coordinating with neighboring departments to determine whether the attempt is linked to similar convenience-store crimes reported in recent weeks.
  • Both suspects wore black hoodies, black pants, face coverings and orange gloves; tipsters are asked to contact Detective Geovanny Ramirez at 817-246-7070 ext. 420 or Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS.
