Christine McVie's Estate Sells Fleetwood Mac Music Rights to HarbourView Equity Partners

Deal includes shares in Fleetwood Mac hits with HarbourView now owning rights to songs featuring McVie; undisclosed sum mirrors trend of high-profile music rights sales.

  • The estate of late Fleetwood Mac star, Christine McVie has sold her music rights to HarbourView Equity Partners, an asset management company. The sale includes rights to several of the band's hit songs.
  • Other artists, including Pat Benatar and RnB star Nelly, have also sold their music catalogues to HarbourView. McVie's death from an ischemic stroke in November last year sparked this move by her estate.
  • In a trend where musicians cash in on their back catalogues, this sale marks yet another instance. Previously, Bruce Springsteen sold his entire back catalogue to Sony Music Group for a whopping $500 million (£412.5 million) in December 2021.
  • Along similar lines, McVie’s bandmate, Mick Fleetwood, sold his interests in his band's recordings, except for their first two albums, to Germany-based BMG, another sizable global music publisher.
  • Sherrese Clarke Soares, the CEO of HarbourView, referred to McVie as a 'global treasure' whose remarkable talents played a key role in shaping Fleetwood Mac's sound. Soares stated that her company is honored to uphold McVie's legacy.
