49ers General Manager John Lynch indicated that McCaffrey will play on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if he continues to progress without setbacks.
The 49ers are currently third in the NFC West and are looking to boost their offense following the loss of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a season-ending injury.
During McCaffrey's absence, Jordan Mason has emerged as a strong rushing option, currently ranking fourth in the NFL in rushing yards.
