Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty to Assault and Weapon Charges in London Court

Brown faces an October 2026 trial on £5 million bail that permits him to continue his international tour.

  • In Friday’s hearing at Southwark Crown Court, the singer denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in the alleged February 2023 bottle attack on Abraham Diaw at Tape nightclub.
  • Omololu Akinlolu, Brown’s co-defendant, also entered not guilty pleas to grievous bodily harm and related offences stemming from the same incident.
  • After his May 21 release from HMP Forest Bank, Brown posted “FROM THE CAGE TO THE STAGE!!! BREEZYBOWL” on Instagram and has since fulfilled tour dates under a £5 million security bond and passport surrender condition.
  • A joint trial for the charges is set to begin on October 26, 2026, following preparatory hearings in London.
  • Defence counsel Sallie Bennett-Jenkins KC has cited difficulties in case preparation caused by Brown’s ongoing international performance commitments.
