Overview
- Chris Appleton and professional Amy Dowden became the first couple eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after losing a live dance-off to Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu.
- Judges Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke all voted to save Winstone's partnership following repeat cha-cha performances, so Craig Revel Horwood did not need to use a deciding vote.
- The bottom two were determined by combining week-one judges' scores (when there was no public vote), week-two scores and the show's first public vote, which placed Appleton and Dowden in danger.
- Appleton and Dowden had scored 16 for their opening-week tango and 17 for their Movie Week cha-cha, while the Movie Week results show drew a peak audience of 5.6 million viewers.
- The pair are scheduled to appear on the BBC companion programmes Strictly: Lights Up and Strictly: It Takes Two, and the remaining 14 couples return to the live show on Saturday, October 10.
