Chouhan Concludes J&K Visit With Commitments on Housing, Horticulture and Women’s Livelihoods

Overview

  • The Centre has identified five lakh verified homeless individuals in Jammu and Kashmir and will allot them permanent homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana after survey and verification.
  • Under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, a Rs150-crore Clean Plant Centre will be set up in Srinagar to supply disease-free plant material alongside new saffron tissue culture labs and nurseries.
  • An MoU between Kudumbashree and the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission will establish 20 district-level food service enterprises led by self-help group women to boost rural incomes.
  • At SKUAST-K’s sixth convocation, Chouhan conferred degrees on 5,250 graduates and later visited campus orchards to interact with horticulture scientists and local farmers.
  • The minister urged citizens to visit Jammu and Kashmir to experience its hospitality and support the region’s recovery and growth under the Viksit Bharat vision.
