Chipotle to Hire 19,000 New Employees for Peak 'Burrito Season'
Fast-Food Chain Introduces New Benefits to Attract Gen Z Workers Amid Expansion
- Chipotle Mexican Grill is planning to hire 19,000 new employees ahead of its peak 'burrito season' that runs from March to May, a 27% increase from the 15,000 it hired for the same period last year.
- The fast-food chain is introducing new benefits to attract Gen Z workers, who make up more than 73% of its workforce. These include a 401(k) match of up to 4% of their salary if they make student loan payments, and access to a Credi.ai debit card that builds credit without fees or interest.
- Other new benefits include access to a financial well-being education platform facilitated by SoFi, faster access to paychecks, and additional mental health resources, including six free sessions with a licensed counselor or mental health coach.
- Chipotle's hiring spree comes as it continues to grow, with the chain adding about 200 more stores from September 2022 to September 2023, bringing its total to more than 3,300 restaurants.
- The company currently employs over 110,000 people worldwide and has generated nearly $7.4 billion in total revenues over the first three quarters of 2023.
