Overview

  • Service is live for select Zipline app users served from Chipotle’s 3109 Lakeview Pkwy location in Rowlett, Texas, with a broader rollout planned in the coming weeks.
  • Orders are available daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT initially, with pricing set at a $2.99 delivery fee plus a 15% service fee capped at $6.
  • Zipline’s aircraft hover about 300 feet and deploy a tethered droid to place the package; payloads start at up to 5.5 pounds with plans to increase to 8 pounds.
  • The quiet, electric drones are insulated for heat, cold, and rain and are aimed at reaching hard-to-serve drop-off spots such as backyards and parks.
  • Further expansion hinges on operational learnings and FAA approvals for broader BVLOS operations; Zipline cites millions of autonomous miles and is also working with partners such as Sweetgreen and Walmart.
