Chinnaswamy Stadium Cleared Conditionally To Host IPL as RCB Funds AI Safety Overhaul

State authorities issued conditional clearance for the venue pending verified safety upgrades with independent certification.

Overview

  • Kannataka’s Home Department granted the KSCA permission to stage IPL and international matches at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, subject to compliance with specified terms and conditions.
  • KSCA said it has presented a detailed compliance roadmap to an Expert Review Committee after a task force assessed ongoing security enhancements as satisfactory.
  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru formally proposed installing 300–350 AI-enabled cameras across the stadium and committed to cover the one-time cost of about ₹4.5 crore.
  • RCB named Staqu as the technology partner for real-time analytics that track entries and exits, enforce queue discipline, detect unauthorised access and provide facial recognition–capable tools for law enforcement.
  • The conditional clearance follows the June 4, 2025 stampede that left 11 dead and 56 injured, which led to fixtures being relocated and prompted earlier contingency venue talks that may be revisited based on final compliance.
