Chinese State-Sponsored Hackers Intensify Cyberattacks on Taiwanese Organizations

Cybersecurity firm Recorded Future reports significant increase in hacking activities targeting Taiwan's critical sectors.

Hacking group RedJuliett compromised two dozen organizations in Taiwan and other regions between November 2023 and April 2024.
Targets included government agencies, tech firms, universities, and companies in critical technology fields.
RedJuliett exploited vulnerabilities in internet-facing appliances like VPNs and firewalls to gain access.
The group also attempted to exploit over 70 Taiwanese organizations, including those with military contracts.
Recorded Future expects continued cyber-espionage activities from Chinese state-sponsored groups against Taiwan.
