Chinese Naval Ships Detected Near Alaska by US Coast Guard

Four Chinese military vessels were spotted within the US Exclusive Economic Zone during routine patrols in the Bering Sea.

The US Coast Guard identified three Chinese ships 124 miles north of Amchitka Pass and a fourth 84 miles north of Amukta Pass.
All vessels were in international waters but within the US Exclusive Economic Zone, which extends 200 nautical miles from the coastline.
The Chinese ships were conducting freedom of navigation operations and complied with international maritime laws.
US Coast Guard Cutter Kimball monitored the Chinese vessels until they moved south into the North Pacific Ocean.
This is not the first encounter; similar incidents occurred in 2021 and 2022, involving both Chinese and Russian ships.
