Chinese Man Extradited from Morocco to Face Embezzlement Charges

  • A Chinese man, known by his surname Luo, has been extradited from Morocco to China to face charges of embezzlement.
  • Luo is accused of embezzling millions of yuan (hundreds of thousands of dollars) from his company by using passwords for its bank accounts to transfer money to his personal account.
  • The Shanghai police filed a case against Luo in February 2020.
  • Luo was arrested by Moroccan police in April 2023 and his extradition was approved by a court in late October.
  • This is the first extradition from Morocco to China since an extradition treaty between the two countries took effect in 2021.
