Chinese Boarding School Faces Backlash for Punishing Student Over Nighttime Bathroom Use

The student, who used the bathroom at 11:10 PM, was penalized by having to write a 'deep self-reflection' letter and distribute 1,000 photocopies to classmates.
Five points were deducted from the student's class's monthly discipline score as part of the punishment.
Public outcry on social media compared the school's strict regulations to those of a prison, criticizing the punishment as excessive and harmful to the student's well-being.
The Education Department of Huairen has instructed the school to revise its discipline policies and compensate the student for the copying costs, urging all schools in the region to adopt more humane discipline practices.
