Overview
- Air China, China Eastern and China Southern extended no-fee refunds and changes for Japan routes to March 28, 2026.
- The policy applies to flights to and from Japan as well as itineraries that transit Japanese airports.
- Air China said on its website the extension was based on the Foreign Ministry’s recent travel advisory, with other carriers issuing similar notices on Dec. 5–6.
- Chinese media reported that more than 40% of Japan–China services are suspended after reported government direction to reduce routes.
- The extension updates an earlier year-end cutoff announced in mid-November and now covers the Lunar New Year travel period.
