Shanghai-based designer Guo Qingshan noticed the dog-like shape of a mountain in Yichang, Hubei province, after reviewing photos from a January hike.
The mountain, now called 'Puppy Mountain,' resembles a dog resting by the Yangtze River with its snout near the water's edge.
Guo’s Valentine’s Day post on Chinese social media platforms Xiaohongshu and Weibo garnered 120,000 likes and millions of views within days.
The viral post has attracted tourists from across China, many bringing their dogs for photos and sharing their own comparisons online.
Locals and past visitors have shared older photos of the mountain, noting its dog-like features and discussing how its appearance may have evolved over time.
