China Unveils Names for Lunar Mission Components, Aiming for 2030 Manned Landing

The Chinese Space Agency has named its lunar mission capsule 'Mengzhuo' and lander 'Lanyue', with plans to send astronauts to the Moon by 2030.

The Mengzhuo capsule, translating to 'dream vessel', and the Lanyue lander, meaning 'embracing the Moon', are set to carry astronauts and a rover to the lunar surface.
China aims to become the second country to land humans on the Moon, utilizing its new super-heavy-lift carrier rocket, Long March 10.
The names were chosen from nearly 2,000 public submissions, reflecting Chinese aspirations and confidence in space exploration.
China's lunar ambitions are part of a broader goal to establish itself as a technological superpower and revitalize the nation.
The mission follows a series of successful unmanned lunar probes, including the Chang’e missions, with Chang’e 6 scheduled to launch later this year.
