Overview

  • GB 21670-2025 was published in July 2025 to tackle emergency-response errors and will apply to most new passenger car approvals from January 1, 2026.
  • The standard bans default configuration of one-pedal driving, mandating that drivers manually activate regenerative deceleration.
  • Brake lights must now illuminate during regenerative braking that decelerates at or above 1.3 m/s².
  • All new electric vehicles must be equipped with antilock braking systems under the new norm.
  • Existing type-approved models must comply with the one-pedal and safety signaling requirements by January 1, 2027.
