Overview
- The bridge opened to traffic on September 28 as part of the 190-kilometre Shantian–Puxi Expressway linking Qianxinan Prefecture with Anshun City.
- Its deck stands about 2,050 feet (525 metres) above the Beipan River with a main span near 4,600 feet and an overall length around 2,890 metres.
- Construction took about three years, with engineers conducting multi-day static and dynamic trials using nearly 100 loaded trucks before regulatory clearance.
- Officials say the crossing slashes travel time across the canyon from two hours to about two minutes, bolstering connectivity for southwestern China.
- Visitor amenities include a high-speed glass elevator to a tower-top café and a 1,900-foot-high glass walkway, with bungee jumping and paragliding planned.
