China NEVs Seize Majority of November Sales as Production and Exports Set Records

An expiring purchase‑tax break is intensifying year‑end buying.

Overview

  • NEVs accounted for 59.3% of China’s November passenger‑car retail, with 1.321 million NEVs sold out of 2.225 million total as fuel‑car retail fell 22% year on year.
  • The China Passenger Car Association said automakers set monthly records for production, exports and wholesales, with passenger‑car exports at an all‑time high.
  • Chery Group sold 272,536 vehicles in November, including 116,794 NEVs up 50.1% year on year, and exported 136,728 units for a seventh consecutive month above 100,000.
  • Xiaomi Auto retailed 46,249 vehicles in November and reports cumulative deliveries since April 2024 now exceed 500,000, with the YU7 reaching 33,729 wholesale units.
  • The association expects December NEV retail to strengthen because buyers face the end of a purchase‑tax exemption and carmakers are offering temporary tax‑subsidy programs.
