China Names Veteran Diplomat Liu Haixing to Lead Party's International Department

Overview

  • The Communist Party's International Department updated its website on Sept 30 to list Liu Haixing as minister, replacing Liu Jianchao.
  • Liu Jianchao has not appeared publicly since late July and is reportedly under investigation after returning from a trip that ended on Jul 30, with his whereabouts unclear.
