CHIEF's centrifuge can create hypergravity conditions up to 1,900 times that of Earth, surpassing the capabilities of any other facility worldwide.
The facility will be used to accelerate physical processes, allowing scientists to study geological phenomena and test materials more efficiently.
Potential applications include simulating long-term stress on dams and exploring materials for deep-sea and space engineering.
Construction of the CHIEF facility began in 2020, with the project costing approximately US$276.5 million.
