Officials will roll out a digital arrival card on 20 November to streamline entry procedures.

Overview

  • The existing visa exemption for short visits now runs until 31 December 2026, according to China’s tourism office.
  • Eligible travelers may stay up to 30 days for tourism, business or family purposes.
  • From 20 November the arrival card becomes digital, replacing paper forms at airports and border crossings to speed processing.
  • Visa-free entry requires a passport valid for at least the planned duration of stay, the German Foreign Office advises.
  • The Chinese Embassy in Germany recommends carrying documents that show the visit’s purpose, such as flight tickets and hotel bookings.
