China Eastern Announces 29-Hour Buenos Aires–Shanghai Route Starting Dec. 4

The 'longest flight' claim refers to total journey length rather than a nonstop record.

Overview

  • Flights MU746 and MU745 will link Shanghai Pudong and Buenos Aires Ezeiza from 4 December 2025.
  • Scheduled durations are about 25 hours 30 minutes from Shanghai to Buenos Aires and about 29 hours on the return.
  • Each leg includes a two-hour stop in Auckland, where passengers will likely remain on board, according to Business Insider.
  • China Eastern plans a southern routing near Antarctic waters that it says trims roughly four hours, covering roughly 19,670–20,000 km.
  • The twice-weekly service operates Mondays and Thursdays on Boeing 777-300s, with one-way fares listed from about €1,300 in economy and around €4,250 in business.
