Beijing urges an immediate ceasefire under UN‑centered diplomacy.

Overview

  • China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said major powers must not use force at will and called for the Iranian nuclear file to return to political and diplomatic channels.
  • In a March 2 call, France told China the US and Israel did not seek or obtain UN Security Council authorization for their operation and agreed on the need to de‑escalate through negotiations.
  • France also stressed Iran’s responsibility for recent regional escalation and cited human rights abuses, while noting Paris neither took part in nor was informed of the USIsraeli strikes.
  • In a separate March 2 call, Wang Yi backed Oman’s mediation between Iran and the United States and urged an immediate halt to military actions to prevent wider spillover.
  • In a March 3 call with Israel’s Gideon Sa’ar, Wang Yi opposed the strikes, pressed for a cessation of hostilities, and requested measures to protect Chinese personnel, which Israel said it would ensure.
