China and North Korea Cement Coordination, Vow to Resist ‘Hegemonism’

Overview

  • North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing, with both sides pledging stronger coordination and opposition to hegemonism and unilateralism.
  • KCNA said the ministers reached “complete consensus” on international and regional issues, while China’s readout emphasized expanded strategic communications and cooperation.

  • Separately at the U.N. General Assembly, Vice Foreign Minister Kim Son Gyong declared North Korea will never surrender its nuclear program, even as he signaled openness to engagement with respectful counterparts.
