Chili's Retires Skillet Quesos, Debuts Southwestern Queso Oct. 7

The chain says weak demand prompted the swap after tests favored the new recipe.

Overview

  • Beef Skillet Queso and White Queso remain available through Oct. 6 before the new Southwestern Queso replaces them on Oct. 7.
  • Chili's says skillet queso orders account for less than 1% of sales, while nearly 70% of surveyed customers preferred the new option.
  • The Southwestern Queso was developed over two years and blends American and cheddar cheeses with fire-roasted green chiles, sweet onions, and a hint of lime.
  • Chips and salsa stay on the menu, and the new queso is vegetarian, unlike the outgoing beef version.
  • Southwestern Queso will be offered as an appetizer, in the Dip Trio, as a nacho topping, and with fajitas, with My Chili's Rewards members eligible for one free taste Oct. 7–21.
