Overview
- Kent Fire and Rescue Service said one child died at the scene and a second was taken to hospital after a blaze at a semi-detached home on White Admiral Way in Hamstreet.
- Firefighters deployed six engines and a height vehicle and reported an “intense” fire that had spread throughout the property.
- By early evening, the incident was reduced to two engines for dampening, and earlier advice to keep windows and doors closed because of smoke was lifted.
- Kent Police said they were called at 12.22pm and assisted with road closures while crews tackled the fire.
- An investigation into the cause is underway, and a welfare hub has been opened at Hamstreet Village Hall to support those affected.
