- Parents of 16–19-year-olds must confirm continued full-time education or approved training by 31 August or payments will stop from September.
- HMRC says renewals can be completed in minutes via the HMRC app, GOV.UK or the QR code on reminder letters sent since May.
- The benefit pays £26.05 a week for the eldest or only child and £17.25 for each additional child, with missed claims forfeiting roughly £1,300 a year.
- From 1 September, eligibility to extend will also cover home-educated teens and those unable to attend college due to illness or disability.
- Higher earners may face the High Income Child Benefit Charge above £60,000 of individual income, with a new option being introduced to pay it through PAYE.
