- The Government of Chihuahua confirmed on Oct. 5 that Víctor Cruz Russek, spouse of Governor María Eugenia “Maru” Campos, has died at age 75.
- He had been hospitalized in recent weeks for cancer, with several reports referencing lung cancer as the underlying illness.
- Cruz Russek led the automotive group CR3 and served as a counselor to AMDA, Bancomer, Inverlat, Universidad La Salle and UACH.
- He and Campos were married in a private ceremony in January 2025 after about a year of courtship.
