Kansas City Chiefs' head coach Andy Reid has announced that backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert will start in the regular season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers, resting Patrick Mahomes.
Tight end Travis Kelce, who is just 16 yards away from notching his eighth consecutive season with over 1,000 yards, may also play in the game.
Other players nearing milestones include running back Isiah Pacheco, who is 65 yards away from recording his first season with over 1,000 yards, and wide receiver Rashee Rice, who only needs 62 yards to notch 1,000 yards in his rookie season.
Defensive tackle Chris Jones, who has tallied 9.5 sacks this season, earns a $1.25 million bonus if he records 10 sacks.
Despite the milestones, Reid may choose to rest these players if they are not at full health, as the outcome of the game will not affect the Chiefs' postseason run.
