Chris Jones, a defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, did not attend the team's mandatory minicamp as he pushes for a contract extension that would make him a top-paid player at his position.

Jones' current contract has one year remaining at a base salary of $19.5 million, but he wants an extension in line with several other defensive tackles who signed lucrative new deals this offseason.
The Chiefs and Jones have been in discussions about an extension, but the team is waiting to see if another defensive tackle, Quinnen Williams, signs a new deal with the Jets first.
If Jones returns, the Chiefs could have 10 homegrown defensive starters in 2023.
