Chiefs Send Mahomes‑Signed Gear to 10-Year-Old After Headband Taken at MetLife

The franchise moved to make amends following a viral clip of a woman taking the souvenir meant for Joey Masters.

Overview

  • The Chiefs delivered a gift box that included a Patrick Mahomes–signed No. 15 jersey, a headband worn and signed by the quarterback, and team merchandise.
  • A TikTok video, posted by an account in contact with the family, showed Joey Masters unboxing the items and reacting to the surprise.
  • Tavia Hunt, the wife of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, used social media to help identify the boy and signaled that surprises were on the way.
  • Nina Miller, who took the headband, apologized on TikTok and on Inside Edition and offered to return it, but there is no confirmation the original item has been sent back.
  • The incident occurred Sept. 21 at MetLife Stadium after Kansas City’s win over the Giants and has been compared to other recent viral fan-snatch episodes, including a Phillies case.
