Chiefs' Rashee Rice Accepts Six-Game NFL Suspension to Start 2025

The settlement ends a planned Sept. 30 disciplinary hearing following his deferred-adjudication plea in the Dallas crash case.

Overview

  • Rice will begin serving the ban in Week 1 and is eligible to return in Week 7 on Oct. 19 against the Raiders.
  • He will miss games against the Chargers in Brazil, the Eagles, Giants, Ravens, Jaguars and Lions.
  • The NFL and NFLPA negotiated the discipline, are finalizing the agreement, and a hearing before Sue L. Robinson is no longer needed.
  • The suspension stems from a March 2024 multi-vehicle crash; Rice pleaded guilty, received five years’ probation and 30 days in jail he may schedule, and has paid more than $115,000 in restitution.
  • Kansas City anticipated his absence by keeping eight receivers on its initial 53-man roster, and Rice is not expected to appeal.
