Chiefs Ownership Locates 10-Year-Old After Mahomes Headband Is Snatched by Adult Fan

There is still no confirmation the game-used headband has been returned.

Overview

  • Video from Sept. 21 at MetLife Stadium shows a woman grabbing Patrick Mahomes’ headband that appeared intended for 10-year-old Chiefs fan Joey Masters after a 22-9 win over the Giants.
  • Masters told local station KCTV5, “I just want that band back really bad,” saying Mahomes made eye contact and tried to hand it to him before it was taken.
  • Nina Miller, identified as the woman in the clip, posted a TikTok apology, saying she mistakenly believed the item was being given to her and that she felt horrible upon learning it was meant for the child.
  • Tavia Hunt, wife of Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt, said on Instagram, “We found him! Surprises ensuing!” indicating the family has located the boy and plans to make amends.
  • Joey’s mother called the moment heartbreaking but urged people not to harass Miller and asked for the headband to be returned, as online backlash continued to grow.
