Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget, the sequel to the 2000 hit movie, is now streaming on Netflix, featuring advancements in stop-motion animation technology.
The sequel was influenced by heist films such as Mission: Impossible, with the chickens breaking into Mrs. Tweedy's industrial chicken nugget factory.
Director Sam Fell and his team have embraced technology, using digital cameras, pre-visualization, and virtual reality for set design, while maintaining the traditional stop-motion animation process.
The chicken models, previously made entirely out of clay, now have silicon bodies fitted over digitally designed, 3D-printed armatures, with the heads and faces still sculpted from clay.
Despite facing challenges such as a fire in 2005 that destroyed most of the company's archive and a recent clay supplier shutdown, Aardman Animations remains committed to the magic of stop-motion animation.
