Overview
- Event organizers announced last week on social media that the Chicago run will not operate this holiday season.
- They cited extensive city street construction above Union Station as the reason for the suspension.
- This is the second consecutive year the Chicago Polar Express has been called off.
- Rides will proceed at regional sites, including Monticello Railway Museum Nov. 14–Dec. 7, the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay Nov. 21–Dec. 14, and French Lick Scenic Railway Nov. 1–Dec. 23, with Elgin’s Santa’s Trolley Express running in November and December.
- Organizers said they understand the event’s importance to families and hope to return, following earlier disruptions in 2020 and 2022.
