• Chicago Blues Festival began June 5 at Millennium Park with headliners Mavis Staples, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and a B.B. King Centennial Tribute.
• Ribfest Chicago opened June 6 along Lincoln Avenue featuring rib competitions, live music, whiskey tastings plus family activities.
• Ravinia’s season opener on June 6-7 brings Ann and Nancy Wilson to Highland Park before performances by Grace Jones and Janelle Monae.
• The Grant Park Music Festival season starts June 11 at Pritzker Pavilion with a free performance of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” alongside works by Gabriela Lena Frank and Manuel de Falla.
• Festival highlights extend to theater premieres of “Kimberly Akimbo” at CIBC Theatre and “You Will Get Sick” at Steppenwolf, the Joffrey Ballet’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and the 57th Street Art Fair June 7-8.
