Chicago Weekend Shootings Leave 1 Dead and at Least 6 Hurt

  • A 22-year-old woman driving a dark blue Honda SUV in South Deering was fatally injured after another vehicle opened fire, leading to a crash on the 2000-block of East 103rd Street just before 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
  • A 28-year-old man who was a passenger in the SUV was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition with crash-related injuries.
  • Just before 12:30 a.m. in West Chatham, two women, 21 and 26, and a 25-year-old man were shot inside a moving car and self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where they were listed in fair condition.
  • Police detailed the West Chatham injuries as a head fragment wound, an arm and hand gunshot wound, and graze wounds to the abdomen and arm.
  • CBS Chicago tallied at least six people injured in separate shootings across the city as of Saturday evening, while police said the shooters fled the highlighted scenes.
