Overview
- Police reported at least four people wounded in separate incidents across the city during the first weekend of the new year.
- A 33-year-old man was shot multiple times in a parking lot near East 79th Street by a gunman in a stolen Kia and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
- Officers later recovered the stolen Kia on South Woodlawn Avenue, arrested a 17-year-old suspect who was also treated for a stomach wound, and said another suspect escaped.
- Other incidents included a 32-year-old struck in the elbow by gunfire from a gray sedan and a 46-year-old injured inside his home when shots came through a window, with both listed in good condition.
