Overview

• Police say the Bourbon Street gunfire erupted shortly after 2 a.m. in the 100 block, where two women and a man were found shot and a fourth woman with a graze wound was located at Canal Street and St. Charles Avenue.
• The woman who died was 33 and visiting from Chicago to celebrate her birthday, and one of the surviving victims is her sibling, according to Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.
• NOPD reviewed surveillance footage and described the incident as a shootout that escalated from a fight.
• Detectives said they believe they have a person of interest and asked anyone with information to contact the NOPD Homicide Section or Crimestoppers.
• In a separate incident around 7:55 a.m., officers arrested Enrique Garcia, 26, in the Bayou St. John shooting in which a man was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
