Overview

  • Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr stations reopened July 20–21 after completing phase one of the CTA’s $2.1 billion Red and Purple Modernization project.
  • Wilson station’s west platform resumed service, restoring two-platform operations to improve train flow and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Renovations deliver full ADA compliance through new elevators, escalators, widened platforms, protective canopies and benches.
  • Additional upgrades include quieter tracks with noise walls, enhanced lighting, 55-inch digital information screens, new signage and security cameras.
  • CTA will move into under-track redevelopment next year and begin work on the Red Line extension to 130th Street in 2026.
