  • Mount Prospect’s 86th annual Fourth of July festival opened July 2 at Melas Park and will run through July 6 with a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. on July 4.
  • Aurora’s Independence Day festivities begin July 3 with musical performances at 6 p.m. in McCullough Park followed by a dusk fireworks display by the river.
  • Parade routes for nearly 30 suburbs have been announced for July 4, with start times ranging from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. across the metropolitan area.
  • Highland Park will forgo fireworks and host a 9 a.m. remembrance ceremony on July 4 to honor the victims of the 2022 parade shooting.
  • Navy Pier is set to cap off the weekend with a special Independence Day fireworks show at 10 p.m. on July 5 as part of its summer series.
