Chicago Red Stars Sold to Laura Ricketts-Led Investor Group

A group of Chicago businesswomen, led by Laura Ricketts, has purchased the NWSL's Chicago Red Stars.
The new ownership group includes 11 businesswomen, one man, and a family office.
The sale comes after Red Stars players urged previous owner Arnim Whisler to sell due to his enabling of abusive coach Rory Dames.
Whisler confirmed in December 2021 that he would sell the club.
The sale is pending final approval from the NWSL Board of Governors.
