Chicago Readies North Side for 55th Pride Parade

Final route maps, street-closure schedules and safety rules were released to guide attendees so transit disruption is minimized.

Overview

  • The two-mile parade will step off at 11 a.m. Sunday and travel south on Broadway, then Halsted, east on Belmont back to Broadway and finish near Diversey and Cannon Drive.
  • Local outlets differ on the exact start intersection, with some naming Grace Street and others West Sheridan or Sheridan and Broadway, so attendees should confirm the live start location via PrideChicago and municipal alerts.
  • City officials posted extensive parking bans and early staging closures, with many no-parking zones in effect starting 2 a.m. and participant areas closing as early as 7:30–8:30 a.m., and streets expected to reopen by mid-afternoon when safe.
  • Organizers listed banned items including alcohol, bicycles and scooters, coolers, tents or chairs, drones without FAA waivers, fireworks, tripods/selfie sticks, vending equipment and weapons, and said cooling buses and enforcement will be in place.
  • Transit guidance urges use of CTA Red and Brown lines to reach the route — nearby stations include Addison, Belmont, Sheridan, Diversey and Wellington — and warns stations may be crowded and some, like Sheridan, are not ADA accessible; the parade theme is “Free to Be Proud” and grand marshals were named for the 55th anniversary.
