- On July 12 at about 12:47 a.m., four suspects approached a passenger on the escalator at North-Clybourn Red Line station, beat him in the face and stole his wallet and cash.
- When the victim tried to retrieve his belongings, one of the suspects displayed a firearm, according to the Chicago Police Department’s Mass Transit Detectives.
- CPD’s alert includes CTA surveillance photos and detailed descriptions of the four suspects, naming three Black males aged 16–20 in various dark and camouflage attire and a White or Hispanic male in a black t-shirt and light-colored jeans.
- Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Mass Transit Detectives at 312-745-4447 or submit an anonymous tip online at CPDTIP.com using reference number JJ-330530.
- The appeal follows a string of violent incidents on Chicago’s rail system this spring and summer that has intensified calls for expanded security measures on the CTA.
