Overview
- Ten businesses were hit in less than three hours early Oct. 20, with several of those incidents clustered in Uptown.
- The break-ins occurred from Sept. 21 to Oct. 20 across at least 16 Chicago neighborhoods, including the Loop, Logan Square, Edgewater and Garfield Ridge.
- Police describe groups of one to eight suspects believed to be roughly 15 to 25 years old, typically wearing black hoodies and ski masks.
- Offenders forced entry by breaking front glass, then targeted cash registers, bottled alcohol and ATMs, often causing more damage than the value stolen.
